Colégio Rainha D. Leonor is situated in caldas da Rainha, a city near the beach side and with a history related to natural spas, that, centuries ago, were believed to have healing properties. This school provides studies from Pre-School (age 3) to secondary school, therefore one can complete all his/her studies in this school. In secondary school (10th, 11th and 12th grade), students can choose the area of studies: Science and Technologies or vocational studies (Sports, Educational Assistant; Marketing). It has 35 teachers and 10 educational assistants. CRDL has 40 classrooms, a gymnasium, a cafeteria, a stationery and every classroom has a data-show. Key persons •Sandra Santos – the school headmaster, an experienced Portuguese and English teacher . She is fond of Literature and the History of Portugal. She has participated in international field trips. • Ricardo Machado is the school project coordinator, with involvement in KA1 and KA2 projects and an ICT teacher involved also in projects related to robotics. • Raquel Galeão – is also from the board of the school and she is a Physical Education teacher and she participated many years ago in an intranational project that involved other countries. In our school there is an Erasmus team: two people from the school management and the teachers who are now collaborating in the projects. This institute is aware of the importance of learning English (our students learn the language from preschool to secondary school); the importance of soft skills (we have mindfulness programmes) and of digital skills (robotics and programming). Simultaneously, we educate our students to be global world students and that is why every year we organize field trips to different countries. Our students are very interested in knowing the world; getting to know the different cultures, different traditions and different languages. Portugal has a strong History related to the “Época dos Descobrimentos” (Age of Discovery, in the 15th century), therefore travelling to learn other countries and receiving in our country different cultures is something that is part of our legacy and that we enjoy. By taking part of this project, we expect to motivate students to learn basic skills and improve so called 21st century skills, learn more about other countries and other traditions. All the activities are sure to improve our student’s speaking skills, their general culture, their soft skills and their capability to work in group, namely hearing and respecting other’s opinions .
