The 3rd Gymnasium of Argostoli started its operation in 1993 and currently has eight total classes serving about 160 students. The school is staffed by 24 professors with a permanent position and offers all the high school curriculum subjects. Although it is the last high school in our region to be established, it has succeeded in gaining the appreciation, respect and recognition of pupils, parents, educators and local authorities in the short term in terms of the quality of the education provided, the interest for students but also globally for the progress of the local community. A key factor in the success of the school is that it is fortunate for many years to be staffed by a core body of teachers from Cephalonia who have gained a lot of experience in managing school and pupils but have also established close relationships with local authorities and society in general. The 3rd Gymnasium of Argostoli has an active participation in all activities in the school life. Every year a large number of environmental education programs, health education, career guidance (eg. such as robotics courses), European programs and cultural programs. At the individual level, teachers have been involved in training activities or other Comenius partnerships, Cedefops and Erasmus+ projects in the past. The participation of pupils in Greek competitions is encouraged, their support for volunteer activities and any other activities of the local community are supported. In recent years, our teachers have been educating local teachers about the integration of ICT in education. The last five years in the 3rd Gymnasium of Argostoli, under the guidance of the computer science teacher of the school, has been made an effort to create a more digital school. As a result we created an online portal for our school in order to offer a communication, collaboration, and coaching platform to students and teachers. Moreover we enable teachers to share content, distribute quizzes, assignments, and manage communication with students, colleagues, and parents. All those years we committed to use internet tools to make our lessons more interactive and switch under the terms of gamification. All those efforts made SAMSUNG Edu Greece to donate to our school one of twelve totally digital classes in our country and we created a Erasmus+ KA1 training for “Didactics and application with web tools”. Our motivation to participate to that project is to contribute and exchange insight and knowledge to the area of WEB 2.0 tools that we feel we are aware and use all those years. The 3rd Gymnasium of Argostoli key persons for the administration of the project will be the Director Mrs. Aliki Galatiatou (Literature Teacher) and the Deputy Director Dimosthenis Kouloumpis (Computer Science Teacher). Both are characterized by high level education (holders of postgraduate and doctorate in education) and their great experience (20 + years of in-service secondary education).
